Tammy Coleman

Tammy Coleman, age 59, passed away at Brigham’s and Women’s Hospital Thursday October 29, 2020.  She was born March 27, 1961 in Ensley, Alabama to Leadell and Clarissa Coleman.

Tammy moved to the Boston area in August 1963 with her family.  She remained here throughout her life.  She attended Boston Public schools and graduated from Hyde Park High School in 1979. Tammy attended Brandeis University briefly, and furthered her education at Cambridge College by earning her Bachelor of Arts in 2015.

Tammy was a caring, loving person and it showed in how she cared for her children and the people around her.  It also showed in her profession. She worked extensively in the healthcare field where she took care of people that were unable to take care of themselves. She thought it was important to treat people like she wanted to be treated and it showed in how she cared for her patients.

Tammy was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, and friend.  As Tammy’s children were growing up, she made sure her children had a variety of experiences. Her children wanted to ensure their mother was able to receive the same from them and they took her on a trip to London, England where she was able to experience another culture and time abroad.  She was a caring, helpful, and problem-solver to her mom.  Her mother could count on her to help solve problems like set up her cell phone and sending text messages, and every night at 11:30 Tammy would remind her mom to take her medication.  Tammy’s sisters found her to be funny, a good listener, and very supportive. She was there when you needed her. Tammy’s friends found her to be a true, die hard friend.  If you were Tammy’s friend you did not have to question her loyalty and she knew how to keep your innermost secrets.

Tammy was also very creative and enjoyed writing poems and short stories. And, just like her dad, she enjoyed taking pictures and cooking. She could make a mean lasagna.  She also enjoyed celebrating birthdays and holidays with family and friends.  Tammy will be truly missed.
