Ginette Rita Auguste

Ginette Rita Auguste, a longtime resident of Dorchester, died peacefully at home surrounded by family on Monday September 7, 2020.

Ginette, also known as Mama Rita, was born December 28, 1943 in Thomonde, Haiti to Joseph Damour Cadichon and Rosemarie Illa Raphael. Ginette was a loving homemaker. She immigrated to the US in 1974. Upon moving to Boston, she became a Certified Nursing Assistant helping those in need until her retirement in 2001.

Ginette’s pride and joy were her family. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, she called them often and called her children daily. She was known to prepare special individualized meals for her grandchildren when they came to visit her. Ginette was a devout Catholic. If she could not make mass, you could find her watching services at home.  In her Pass time she loved to watch movies like Coming to America and Sisi, which she has watched over 1000 times. She also loved telling jokes and sharing her wisdom through Haitian proverbs.

She is survived by George Auguste, her husband of 59 years, her 8 children (Rosemarie, Guerta, Edson, Wedline, Wander, Rigaud, Larousse and Lutton) and her 33 grandchildren (Guerline, Philippe, Evans, Monique, Victoria, Derek, Yuri, Jessica, Mackenley, Wilky, Lanezja, Ailani, Maelle, Octavian, Thalia, Crispin, Ruby, Justin, Shayla, Junique, Dannie, Rigona, Rigodline, Jinette, Rigosson, Juninho, Santo, Rousseline, Djenika, Petrovna, Mydjuna, Derline and Neiflarah) and 8 great grandchildren (Jace, Jai, Javian, Selena, Marcellus, Masen, Makylie, and Viola) and her 6 living siblings (Jacques, Joseph, Gabriel, Elly, Rene and Pericles). Ginette also survived by over 50 nieces, nephews and cousins.  Preceded by Carneau, Eles, Gideon, Rosana and Estida.

The visiting hours will take place at Dolan’s Funeral Home 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Sunday September 13th from 2:00-6:00PM. A private Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Angela’s Church in Boston. Interment will be at Cedar Grove Cemetery, 920 Adams St., Dorchester, MA 02124.

The repast will be open to the public and start at 1pm at 10 Owencroft Rd., Boston, MA 02124 for those who would like to pay their respects. We ask that all adhere to the COVID19 guidelines of masking and social distancing. Masks will be provided for those who don’t have one and hand sanitizer will be readily available on site.
