Sabino Coleta

Sabino Alves Coleta of Fogo, Cabo Verde and Boston, MA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 26, 2020, surrounded by family in Boston. 

Beloved husband of Maria Coleta. He leaves to mourn his passing his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and a sister, Maria Andrade, known lovingly as Tia Mimi, who will miss him dearly. 

He was born in the Fonte Aleixo region of the municipality of Santa Catarina, Fogo, Cabo Verde to Manuel and Ana Alves.  A leader on his home island, he started a family and progressed through his life as a farmer on his family land.  He immigrated to the United States in 1964, married his current wife, and expanded his family, and life, in his new home of Boston.  He had an unwavering love and commitment to his adopted country, always praising the bountiful opportunities available to him, and his fellow Cape Verdeans, to improve their and their families’ lives.  A respected elder of both the community of Fogo and the Cape Verdean community of Boston and Brockton, Nho Nelinho has left an indelible mark on his family and wider community.

Visiting hours at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Wednesday, 4-8PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick Church, Dudley Street, Roxbury, Thursday, January 30 at 10:00am. Interment New Calvary Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
