Mattie Williams

After fighting a courageous battle, within the twinkling of an eye on March 13th, 2019 God relieved Mattie Williams, loving mother, 66 years of age, of her earthly assignment into the life which is everlasting.

Born on June 26, 1952 in Brooklyn, New York to the late Geneva Pearson and Marvin Pearson

As a young girl Mattie moved from New York to Boston along with her mother and sisters. In Boston she would meet and fall in love with Ray Reddick to which one son would be born. Later in life she would meet and marry Tommy Williams. To this union another son would be born. Her family was her joy. She was a traditional stay at home mom dedicating herself to her children who were the joy of her life. Family was always a priority for her.

She did not finish high school but was determined to provide a better life for her children and went on to obtain her General Equivalency Diploma which was a proud moment for her. After acquiring her diploma she then attended the Hickox School of Information Technology but before she could finish she was struck with an illness which would haunt her for the remainder of her life.

Mattie loved God and would often talk about going back home to be with him again. She was a compassionate, generous, sympathetic and fun loving woman with an infectious laugh who also loved to dance. She definitely was a bright shining light to all that knew her and will be sorely missed by those who loved her.

Left to honor Mattie and remember her love are her two sons Ronnie and Robert; four grandchildren, Robert jr., Rudy, Shakara and DaniLeigh, her sisters Carol and Geraldine, her brother Tommy (Cochise) along with several nephews and a niece.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Walter and sister Peggy.

Mattie’s family would also like to extend their gratitude to all the staff at the Lemuel Shattuck Hospital in Jamaica Plain for their attentiveness and loving care.

A Funeral service will be held on Friday March 29th in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., Dorchester Lower Mills at 12 PM. A visiting hour will be from 11 – 12. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.
