Roland Cudjoe

Roland Cudjoe, affectionately known as “Uncle” was born in Lambeau, Tobago on February 25, 1922. Born to Michael and Martha Cudjoe; he was the 3rd of 10 children, including his twin the late Ralph Cudjoe.

Roland relocated to Trinidad where he met and fell in love with and married Olive Seon. He was a well-known shoemaker and worked on the wharf in Port of Spain, Trinidad.  Roland enjoyed traveling, cruising and he also enjoyed living life with the love of his life, his lady, his love… Olive!  He loved swimming as he would swim for hours in Tobago. He often reflected on his favorite foods that he enjoyed eating in Tobago such as cou-coou, cassava dumplings (must be no plain dumplings) and fish. If you knew him you would know that he was a fashionista and he loved music as he was a great dancer. Roland loved Christmas and he also loved building his own collections. He loved collecting stones, shells, eagle ornaments and anything that had to do with nature. Roland had a great sense of humor, he gave Deidre the same birthday card every year for about 9 years as he loved the words and meaning of it. It was a pink card with silvery wind in glitter. Those are the memories that will be cherished forever.

During his life in the US, Roland was employed at the Prudential Center as a facilities supervisor. He also worked at Skycap as a bartender in his spare time. Roland would be known to love spending time with his family and close friends. During his illness, Roland continued to always be in good spirits talking, laughing and dancing when he was able. On Tuesday December 4, 2018 Roland departed this world surrounded by his wife of 61 years and family.  Roland leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Olive, daughter Suzette “Deidre”; son-in-law Haynes Munroe; grandchildren: Kadeam, Kareem, Alicia. Living siblings: Emmett, Beltcher. Uncle to Oral (Clever); Owen, Dale, Dasi, Avril, Lexa and great uncle, great-great uncle to many more.
