Joan B. Beyer, of Milton, age 71, November 13, 2018.
Beloved wife of Edmund Beyer. Devoted mother of James W. Beyer of Phoenix, AZ, Charles W. Beyer of Washingtonville, NY and Andrew B. Beyer of Pittsburgh, PA. Daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy Burton of Lakewood, NJ and sister of the late Susan Burton of Chilmark, MA. Joan leaves five grandchildren: Justin Brown, Ryan Brown and Haley Brown of Orlando, FL and Connor Beyer and Kylie Beyer of Washingtonville, NY. Her daughter-in-law Tanya Beyer, Jeff Bukowski, partner of her son Andrew, and her nephew Jesse Burton and his wife Laia Burton of Chilmark, MA. She also leaves behind her lifelong (67 years), great friend Nancy Finch of Philadelphia, PA.
Joan was born in Newark, NJ in 1947 and grew up in Plainfield, NJ. A graduate of Plainfield High School and the Overlook Hospital School of Nursing, Joan dedicated her professional life to nursing for 49 years. She met her husband Ned in 1973 at the Deaconess Hospital in Boston and they were married in 1974. Ned and Joan bought a house in Milton in 1976 and have lived in the town for the past 42 years, recently moving to Home, Inc. Joan was loved by her many friends for her warmth, caring, honesty and great sense of humor.
A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held on Saturday, November 17 at 10:00 am in Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE followed by a burial in Milton Cemetery. Visiting hours at the funeral home Friday 3:30-7:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donation in Joan’s memory can be made to the Pine Street Inn, 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
