Albert A. Fitzgerald
Albert A. Fitzgerald, 97, of Milton, November 11, 2018.
Albert is the son of the late Edward J. Fitzgerald and Mary Jane (Murphy) Fitzgerald. Survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Evelyn (Garrity) Fitzgerald. Proud father of Maryellen Benson and her husband Richard of Plymouth and Joan Traverse and her husband Paul of Milton. Cherished grandfather of five grandchildren: John Fitzgerald Traverse (Jennifer), Elizabeth Traverse Fernald (Brian), Brian Benson (Jennifer), Michael Traverse, and Julie Fitzgerald Avergun (Edward). Great grandfather of Isabella and Grace Fernald, Sophia and Andrew Benson, and Charlotte, David, James and Emily Avergun. Al was the youngest of seven children and is predeceased by the late Mary Carey, Edward J. Fitzgerald, John I. Fitzgerald, James A. Fitzgerald, Francis Fitzgerald and Joseph J. Fitzgerald. Survived by his brothers-in-law Paul Garrity and Francis “Red” Doyle, his sister-in-law Elizabeth Garrity and many nieces and nephews.
He is a proud WWII United States Army Air Corp Veteran. After serving his country, Al attended Boston College, graduating in the class of 1949. He became a CPA and worked for the Department of Defense for over thirty years. Al enjoyed golf with his beloved friends, Friday afternoon races in Raynham, and was a fan of Boston College Football, the Red Sox, and the Patriots.
He enjoyed reminding all of his grandchildren: “Everything in moderation, nothing to excess, not even virtue.” Al will be remembered by all who knew him for his patience, wonderful smile, and great wit.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, Reedsdale Road, Milton, Wednesday November 14 at 10:00 am. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue EAST MILTON SQUARE, Wednesday 8:30-9:30 am. Interment Milton Cemetery.
