Kathleen M. “Kay” (Scherer) Dodds of Milton passed away on October 6, 2018.   Beloved mother of Denise Dodds and her spouse, Mary Pope.  Daughter of the late Joseph G. and Henrietta V. (Gray) Scherer.   Sister of William F. Scherer of Medway, John L. Scherer of Holliston, Elizabeth A. Scherer of Hanover, and the late Joseph Scherer.  Also, survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Kay was proud to have grown up in Roxbury and grateful for the loving guidance and education that she received at Saint Joseph Academy from the Sisters of Saint Elizabeth.   Kay enjoyed a long career at State Street Bank and Trust Company.   She began as a bookkeeping clerk and moved through the ranks to become one of the bank’s first female Assistant Vice President.   Kay received certificates in banking from Williams College and Rutgers University.   When reflecting back on her career, Kay would often observe “not bad for a kid from Roxbury.”

Kay was a woman of strong likes and dislikes. She loved to dance, listen to music, and drink a glass of good prosecco.  She loved to laugh and reminisce with good friends and relatives.    Kay loved to shop and was always dressed to the ‘nines.”   She followed politics and loved JFK and President Obama whom she referred to as Obie as if they were good friends.   Kay loved her brothers, her furry companion, Dora, and above all, she loved her daughter, Denise.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Most Precious Blood Church, Hyde Park , Thursday October  11, at 10 o’ clock. Visiting hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St.  DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS,  Wednesday 4-8 pm.
