Arlene Frances McCullagh
Arlene Frances (Cull) McCullagh (83) peacefully passed away in her sleep on October 8, 2018. Arlene was the second daughter of three children born to Allen and Anna May Cull (McFarland) of Milton, MA. She grew up in Milton, MA with her two sisters, Janet and Ann Marie, and was a graduate of Matignon High School and Emmanuel College in Boston, Massachusetts.
Arlene was an excellent student, a prolific reader and enjoyed staying current on the news and business. She graduated with Honors from Emmanuel College in 1957 with a BS in Business Administration and was a proud Emmanuel College alumna all her life. Arlene remained close with her friends from Emmanuel College and attended her class reunions as often as possible. Arlene was married to Charles McCullagh and together they raised a family while living in Ohio, New Jersey, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Arlene was instrumental in the early growth of Parts Service International (PSI), headquartered in Westfield, MA, which grew to serve customers around the world until the company was sold in 1998.
Arlene happily lived for many years on Cape Cod and enjoyed the fresh air, the ocean, the symphony and the peaceful solitude of the winter months. Arlene will be remembered by many for her timeless elegance, her beautiful smile, her unrepentant devotion to family, her dry sense of humor, her great love of all things chocolate, her mastery of the world’s greatest apple pie and so many colorful and warm holiday gatherings alongside her family. She will be deeply missed.
She was a devoted mother, proud grandmother, and loyal friend, Arlene F. McCullagh is survived by her children and their families: son Charles Brendan and Martha McCullagh (Easthampton, MA); daughter Linda and Stephen O’Leary (Boston, MA); son Mark and Mary McCullagh (Charlotte, NC); son Neil and Gail McCullagh (Cambridge, MA) and eleven grandchildren, a source of great happiness.
