Marie Lorzina Jean Julien

Marie Lorzina Jean-Julien, 71, passed away on Friday, August 17th 2018.

Marie Lorzina (affectionately known by family and friends as Fifi) was born June 15th 1947 in Bainet, Haiti to her parents, Clairomene Delvas and Joseph Chery. She was the couple’s first born. A short while after her birth, Marie moved with her parents to Port-au-Prince where she would pursue her education. At a very young age Marie was always thinking ahead of her time and always felt that she had a duty to do all she could to help her family. She would remain at Port-au-Prince until her thirties, to later decide to settled overseas in Martinique, France where she would spend the next 20 years of her life; in pursuit of a better life.

During her time in Martinique, Marie Lorzina worked very hard to became a successful business woman. A journey started in the south side of the island, where she would work in a farm as an agriculture worker. Her first few years in this new home were very difficult, but Marie Lorzina was determined to push forward and become successful. She later on decided to move to the capital, Fort-de-France, where she would spend her next 3 years and open a her first take out restaurant. She would later on open another restaurant and explore other business ventures until the late nineties before deciding to go back home to Haiti for a short period. Marie Lorzina decided to finally settled in the United States in the early 2000 and lived in Milton Massachusetts until she passed away on August 17th 2018.

Marie Lorzina had an unwavering love for her family and friends. She was a strong and outspoken woman that anyone could count on. She enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, and love ones. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She also enjoyed dancing and singing.

Marie Lorzina is survived by her children Guerline Georges, Alex Lamarre, Carline Lamarre, Martine Jabouin, and Jean-Jacques Paul. She is also survived by her loving sibling Jean-Samuel Boursiquot, Examene Jean-Charles, Elsie Chery, Marie Francess Chery, Yonel Chery, and Mario Cinord. Marie Lorzina is also survived by her many grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephew who love her dearly.

 

Marie Lorzina (Fifi) will be missed by all who knew her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester, Saturday August 25 at 10:00 am.  Family and friends invited.  Visiting hours in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Friday from 7-9 pm.
