Michael V. Grasso

Michael Valdimar Grasso, 53, of Boston Massachusetts passed away at his home on May 3rd, 2018.

Michael was born February 22nd 1965 in St. John U.S. Virgin Island. He moved to Rhode Island at an early age with his father where he went to Bishop Hendricken Catholic High School. He then attended Providence College with healthcare aspirations and went through the ROTC program and was commissioned as an officer. He went to Nursing School at Northeastern University and graduated in May 1993. On June 27 1992 He married Hedwidge Grasso in Boston Ma. He served more than 20 years in the military where he would work with the 399th combat support hospital. He was called into active duty and served a tour in the Iraq war from 2006-2007. He received a Bronze Star Medal, Army Commendation Medal, and Combat Action Badge for his work. He was employed as a registered Nurse at Mass General Hospital where he worked in the Neuro-ICU and then the emergency department. He was promoted to a resource nurse.  More recently he went back to school and completed a Master’s degree in healthcare management having received his MBA two years prior.

Michael was a man of many passions. He loved his family and enjoyed vacationing with them and going out to fancy restaurants. He loved music, specifically fond of many blues artists and guitar players. He even self-taught himself the guitar and would play at home and on many beach trips. He enjoyed books, movies, and politics.

He is survived by his Mother Sylvia Grasso, his wife Hedwidge Grasso, his son Zachary Grasso, his Aunts Clemna Duncan,  Naomi Hodge, Victoria Hodge, and his many cousins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church on Saturday, May 12 at 10am. Visiting hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Friday from 4-8pm. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Relatives and friends invited.
