William C. Foley

William C. Foley of Milton, April 29, 2018.

Beloved husband of Natalie (White) Foley and the late Adele (Darcy) Foley. Loving father of William C. Foley Jr. of Dorchester, Step-Father of John (Jay) Faherty of E. Bridgewater, Elizabeth Mittl of MD and Natalie Bondar of Dedham. Brother of Rev. Thomas Foley of Regina Cleri, Bernard Foley of Delaware, Richard Foley of Canton and the late John Foley, James Foley, Francis Foley and Barbara Pickering. Bill is also survived by several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

William grew up in Dorchester in the 1940s and 1950s in a large household that drew its basic and enduring values from his parents’ devotion to the Catholic faith. Like his brothers and many teens and young men from his neighborhood, William made his way to the Wollaston Golf Club across the Neponset River where he joined a caddie colony of a hundred or so in a bid to make some spending money. He succeeded in that mission, and for the rest of his life, golf – he was the Massachusetts Amateur champion in 1964 –  and the associations he made in its culture, were driving forces in his later endeavors.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth Church, Milton, Thursday May 3 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Wednesday 4 – 8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.

Donations in Bill’s memory may be made to the Adele Foley Scholarship Fund, C/O Francis Ouimet Scholarship Fund, 300 Arnold Palmer Boulevard, Norton, MA 02766.
