Julia Galvao
Julia (Monterio) Galvao a retired Home Health Aide passed away at age 86, on October 1, 2017. Julia was born on May 25, 1931, in Brava, Cape Verde, the beloved daughter of the late Francisco Lopes and Eugenia Monterio. She immigrated to America in 1968 with her children.
Julia was a kind hearted woman with a cheerful disposition. Determined and hard working woman were other ways to describe her. She enjoyed shopping, loved traveling to Cape Verde and was passionate about dancing to and listening to Cape Verdean music. Most importantly she loved being with her family. She faithfully attended church and would watch Mass on television when she was unable to be at church.
Julia was the beloved mother of Aguinaldo Galvao of Dorchester, Deolinda Ruiz of Mattapan, Alerio Galvao and his wife Eve of Mattapan, Carlos Galvao of Dorchester, Ana Galvao of Hyde Park, and John Galvao of Dorchester. Sister of Ana Pires of Weymouth, Laura Perria of Dorchester, Francisco Monteiro of Dorchester and the late Jose Monteiro. Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Church, ROXBURY, Friday, Oct. 6, at 10 o’clock. Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home 1140 Washington St, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Thurs. 6-9 pm. Interment New Calvary Cemetery, Boston.
