Jane F. Carroll

Jane Frances Carroll, aged 75, died peacefully in her home in Milton on August 8, 2017.  Jane was born November 21, 1941 and raised in Winchester, the daughter of Joseph J. and Rita C. (Hayes) Moran.

Jane was a long-time resident of North Easton, where she built a happy family life founded upon a nearly 40-year marriage to her late husband, John P. Carroll, who passed on August 8, 2001.  She raised four children, two dogs, several cats and rabbits, and any other animals her children brought home. She was a proud graduate of Stonehill College (1993) and Forsyth School of Dental Hygiene (1961) and worked for many years as a dental hygienist at the VA Medical Center in Brockton until her retirement.

She was an avid swimmer, a self-taught and skilled sailor, an aspiring gardener and golfer, faithful Red Sox and Patriots fan and a voracious reader who appreciated music and all things beautiful.  Her greatest joy, however, was in spending time with family and friends.  Jane always held strong convictions on many subjects, and enjoyed a spirited debate with kind and honest discourse.  At the same time, she placed the value and quality of her relationships above all else.  Those who spent time with her deeply appreciated her ethic, and knew it was special.  Her unique, endearing, inspiring and rare spirit will perhaps provide the greatest comfort to her family and friends as they celebrate her life.  She lived it well, fully and with uncommon passion and grace.

Jane is survived by her beloved children Clare and her husband Jeff Gray of Milton, Kevin and his wife Badeah of Bethesda, MD, Joseph and his wife Cheryl of Colorado Springs, CO and Stephanie and her husband Brannan Davis of Fort Collins, CO; her adored grandchildren Kasey, Emilie, Molly, Sarah, Ryan, Kyle, Benjamin, Daniel, Jane and Conor; and her cherished siblings Jim Moran and wife Nancy of Byfield, John Moran and wife Karen of Maitland, FL, Rob Moran and wife Susan of Winchester, Mary Ann “Maisie” Wall and husband Peter of Harwich and Elizabeth “Betsy” Land and husband Tom of Andover.  Janie is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other loving relatives and close friends.  In addition to her husband John, she will join her parents, many aunts and uncles and her beloved nephew Matthew Moran in Heaven.

Jane’s family is deeply grateful to the skilled, dedicated and compassionate medical and nursing providers who helped not only to extend her life but also to respect her very strong desire to live only with dignity and purpose.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Monday, August 14, at 10:30 AM. Visiting hours at Dolan & Chapman Funeral Home, 5 Canton Avenue, MILTON VILLAGE, Sunday 2-5 PM. Interment Private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you endeavor to live by the Prayer of St. Francis, as Jane did all of her life.
