Patricia Ann (Monahan) Hertel
Patricia Ann (Monahan) Hertel, of Milton, passed away on May 22,2017 at age 63 from the aftereffects of a stroke suffered in March of 2016.
She was the daughter of Margaret (Farrington) Monahan and Stephen L. Monahan both of Milton. Mr. Monahan was a longtime Milton firefighter. She was born on St. Patrick’s Day in 1954 and it was thus that she was named Patricia. As both her parents passed away in the 1960’s, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Marie and Thomas Kenney. She graduated from Milton High School in 1972 and Fitchburg State College in 1976. As a teen, she worked for both Cunningham Park pool and Milton Cemetery. After college, she moved to Germany with her late husband, Christopher Hertel, who was stationed there as a member of the U.S. Army. While in Germany, she worked at the Command Information Center in Berlin. When she returned to the United States, she worked for several employers; notably The National Fire Protection Association, as an administrative assistant.
She is survived by a son, Christopher T. Hertel and his wife, Rachel, along with their daughter, Annabelle – all of Florida. She is also survived by her brother, John J. Monahan and his wife, Olga A. Giraud of Milton, her “sister” , Mary V. Cantwell of Braintree, along with Mary’s three daughters, Theresa, Marie and Anne. She is also survived by her Godfather, Donald P. Affanato and his wife, Ellen of Milton.
Patricia was a late member of AA and enjoyed the Red Sox, her famous natural blonde streak in her brown hair, the beach, yard sale bargains and talking on the telephone.
Services were private and burial was at Milton Cemetery.
