GeddesRichardRichard C. “Dick” Geddes, age 75, of Largo, FL died unexpectedly but peacefully at Largo Medical Center on January 21, 2017 of complications of COPD. He was born in Boston on November 29, 1941. A former resident of the Squantum neighborhood of Quincy, Dick was the cherished son of the late Alice N. and Warren N. Geddes.  He is survived by his caring, inseparable companion of many years, Alice Gore of Largo, FL, his devoted twin brother Ronald W. Geddes and his wife Jan of Boston, his loving cousins Marcia Stone of New Hampshire, Naomi Zottoli of Squantum and Gretchen Zottoli of Centerville as well as his loyal childhood friend Christopher Ford of Cohasset.

Dick attended North Quincy High School and worked for many years for T. D. Downing Company, an import-export firm in Boston.

Dick was an avid sports fan who enjoyed sailing in his teen-age years as well as golf throughout his life.  Even though he resided in Florida, he faithfully rooted for the Red Sox and Bruins although he also supported baseball and hockey teams in the Tampa Bay area.  He was a voracious reader of all types of literature and enjoyed extensive travel with his family throughout the United States, Canada, Europe and Bermuda for many years.

Dick retired to Florida 21 years ago and was privileged to reside in two ALF facilities during that time:  Barrington Terrace and Heron House of Largo.  Dick’s family extends its gratitude and thanks to the staff of these remarkable facilities for creating a supportive, caring environment where Dick could flourish and live independently.  Dick was a person infused with deep faith and spiritual strength who overcame challenges of serious illnesses in adolescence to live an inspiring life.

Dick’s family and many friends consider his most extraordinary quality to be the inextinguishable bond of love, loyalty, friendship and respect he shared with his identical twin brother, Ron, throughout their lives.

Burial in Milton Cemetery will be private. A memorial service will be held for Dick at a date to be announced at Heron House of Largo, 2050 East Bay Drive, Largo, FL 33771.  In lieu of flowers, donations in honor and memory of Dick to Heron House of Largo will be appreciated.
