Thomas Moxley Mullen, age 70, of Braintree, formerly of Needham and Brookline, died peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 9, 2016 after a period of illness.

Tom was the son of the late Alice Hunter Mullen and John Francis Mullen Sr. He was also predeceased by his sister, Marcia Mullen Robinson of Marblehead. Tom was the loving brother of John Francis Mullen Jr. and his wife Eileen of Squantum. He was the cherished “Uncle Tom” to his nieces Jillian, Jamie, and Jacquelyn. He also leaves behind many cousins and friends.

Tom attended Boston College nights and worked at BC for 25 years. He was an avid Boston sports fan and at one time had season tickets to the Patriots, Bruins, and Whalers. He also loved plays, musicals, cribbage, the Boston Pops, and no one could beat Tom at Scrabble! Tom’s favorite song was “Moon River” and he loved music.

Tom was a gentle man and a kind spirit. He overcame many illnesses in his life but never complained and faced each with great courage. Tom was a favorite of all whom he came in contact with during his life. He will always be remembered for his wit, kindness, and generosity. The world has lost a very special person in Tom and he will be truly missed by his family and friends.

His family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital and Good Samaritan Medical Center as well as Father Rick for their professionalism and compassion during these last two months.

Relatives and friends are invited to the visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday, December 15 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by a private funeral mass and interment.
