William W. Maker

William W. Maker of Milton, formerly of Bradford, passed away on April 26 at Wingate Rehab Center in Needham at the age of 100. Beloved husband of the late Mary (Barrett) Maker. Father of Mary Catherine Maker of Milton, William A. Maker of Westminster, SC and the late Ann Marie Maker.

Bill Maker was born and raised in North Andover, MA and graduated from Johnson High School in 1933. In 1944, he became a welder at the Portsmouth Navy Yard and remained there until 1945 when he began work as a Purchasing Agent for the construction department at Western Electric retiring in 1979 after 34 years.

An enthusiastic participant in amateur sports Bill was a devoted Red Sox and Patriots fan. He was an avid collector of antiques, repaired and collected antique clocks and tools, was a skilled woodworker, and stayed busy in his garden.

Interment will be on Tuesday, May 17th at 11:30 in Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Newburyport. The family wishes to express its warmest gratitude to all the kind and loving staff and residents at Winter Valley in Milton who welcomed and helped care for Bill, as well as Audrey Springer his caregiver.
