William J. “Bill” Flaherty,  of Kingston, formerly of Milton, in his 87th year, May 15, 2016.

Born and raised in South Boston, he was a graduate of Boston English High School, Class of 1946. Mr. Flaherty served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948 and then attended Boston University, taking accelerated courses to graduate with the Class of 1950. He then attended Boston University Law School, graduating in 1953. He passed the Bar Exam and was married to Virginia L. McLaughlin in Saint Brigid Church, South Boston in 1953. He began practicing law with Liability Insurance Company for Accident & Life and transitioned to the Sales Department at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company in 1960, retiring in 1991 as Sales Manager.

The Flaherty family  moved to Milton in 1963. Mr. Flaherty was active in Milton Youth Sports, served of the Board of Directors for Milton Babe Ruth Baseball, Saint Agatha Church and My Brother’s Keeper. He received an award from the Archdiocese of Boston for service to God and youth.

Beloved husband of the late Virginia L. (McLaughlin) Flaherty. Loving father of Kathleen Flaherty, Kevin Flaherty and his wife Marilyn, all of Milton, Maureen Savoie of Whitman, Eileen Mullaney and her husband Joseph of Braintree, Mark Flaherty and his wife Nadine of Pleasanton, CA, Stephen Flaherty of Abington, Brian Flaherty and his wife Karen of Braintree, Christopher Flaherty and his wife Stacey of Franklin and Sean Flaherty and his wife Kellie of Canton. Brother of the late Donald Flaherty. Bill is survived by 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Dear friend and business partner of Laurie Montuori.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Agatha Church, Milton, Friday May 20 at 10:30 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday 4 – 8 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
