Nancy Tracy

Nancy Tracy, 74, passed away on Wednesday morning, April 6, 2016 in Palmetto, Florida with her daughters at her bedside. She died peacefully after a courageous 5 year battle with Cancer. Her strong will along with the love of family and friends carried her through the many months of Chemotherapy. Throughout her own health struggles she maintained only the most optimistic demeanor and continued to put others before herself.

Nancy was known for her ease in conversation and ability to make friends. She leaves behind many new and longtime friends. Throughout her life she maintained a hardworking and honest demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many. Those who knew her best frequently remarked on her selflessness. A perfect example of this could be found in her lifelong love of Drum Corps. Introduced to the activity in her youth, when she was a mother she enrolled both her daughters. Soon she became a fixture for the  Imperials Drum and Bugle Corps of Pembroke, Massachusetts.  She spent years as one of the many “corps moms” who performed the endless behind the scenes work that makes a drum corps function. Be it working Bingo Halls, cleaning uniforms, polishing boots or just cheering from the stands, she stood as an unsung example of selflessness and dedication to her children and the activity. Her signature gift of self, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten.

Nancy was born on July 14, 1941 in Boston, Massachusetts to Frederick and Margaret (Harkins)  Voellmecke. The second of 3 children, she is survived by her sister Marjorie Harrigan of Carlisle, MA and brother Fred of Quincy, MA.

After graduating from Silver Lake High School she met and married Robert Pimentel. The couple were parents to 2 daughters, Eleanor Pimentel of Weymouth MA and Ann Stockdale of Jacksonville FL. Nancy married Les Tracy in 1984. Les enjoyed a long career in the hardware industry and worked for many years as an executive for Ace Hardware. The position took him around the United States and Caribbean. Nancy loved to travel made many of those trips with him.  Before leaving the workforce Nancy worked at the East Bridgewater Savings Bank in Pembroke for many years.

Nancy and Les left the Bay State in 1992 and made the Gulf Beaches area of Florida their home.  Les passed unexpectedly in 2012 after 27 years of marriage.

In addition to her immediate family she leaves behind her late husband’s children Nicole Machado of Middleboro MA and Gregory Tracy of Baton Rouge LA. And the entire Tracy family.

Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend a  visitation on Saturday, May 7th 10:00 – 11:30AM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. Interment in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Dorchester.
