Elizabeth Stapleton

Stapleton_Elizabethweb&paperElizabeth “Betty” (McDavitt) Stapleton, passed away  Feb. 9.  She was born in South Boston to the late Thomas P. McDavitt and Abbie (Brown) McDavitt.

Betty was a graduate of Emmanuel  College who began a teaching career in public schools.  She transitioned to the role of mother after her marriage to her late husband John, and became the mother to six children.

The cornerstone of Betty’ s  life was her religion. She was a longtime member of the religious education program and active parishioner at St. Elizabeth’s Church.  She also volunteered her time to several organizations, among them the Milton Hospital, Milton Public Schools, The Trailside Museum at Blue Hills and Milton Wheels on Meals.  Betty was a summer resident of Onset.

Betty was the beloved wife of the late John H. Stapleton. Devoted mother of Lisa D. Stapleton Villard and her  husband Paul of Milton, Lizanne  Freda and her husband Joseph of Lynnfield, Terrance Stapleton and his wife Jill & Christopher Stapleton all of S. Boston and Tara Stapleton of Milton, and the late John “Jay” Stapleton. Grammy  to Paul and Nicholas Villard of Milton.  Sister of the late Mary McDavitt and Thomas McDavitt.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth’s Church, MILTON, Saturday, Feb. 13, at   10:30 am.  Visiting Hours in the  Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave. , EAST MILTON SQUARE, Fri. 4-7 pm. Interment Milton Cemetery.
