James Owen Kelly
James O. Kelly, of Milton, died January 12, 2016. Beloved husband of the late Susan A. (Whalen) Kelly. Loving father of Jana Kelly and her husband Shane O’Neill of Weymouth, Thomas Kelly of Milton, James Kelly of Milton and Liam Kelly of Denver Colorado. Brother of Mary, Catherine, Margaret, John, Ann, Frank, Patricia and Eileen.
James was born in Boston and grew up in Dorchester. He worked as a Property Administrator for Corcoran Jennison Companies for the last 30 years. Previous to that, he was the proprietor of Kelly’s Restaurant in Weymouth, MA. He started his professional career at the Peabody Tavern in Dorchester, MA, that was owned by his father and uncle. An avid Boston sports fan, James loved watching the Bruins, Patriots and Red Sox with his family. He also enjoyed the beach, traveling and exercising. Most of all James loved his family who were the cornerstone of his life. He was a proud Navy Veteran. He will truly be missed by all who had the pleasure to have known him.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend a Memorial Mass Saturday January 16, 2016 at 10:00am in Saint Brendan Church, 589 Gallivan Boulevard, Dorchester. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of James may be made to Father Bills Place, 38 Broad Street, Quincy, MA 02169.

Jim will be missed. He truly is one of the finest human beings that I have the pleasure to know. My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time of sadness.

My heart is heavy knowing that I have lost a dear friend. I had the privilege of working with Jim for 30 years. He was so kind to everyone. He always had an encouraging word and his dry sense of humor could make your day. I will truly miss him, but I will carry cherished memories of him always. Those nine years were one of the best times in my life. I will cherish those memories and hold them close to my heart. To his children-Your Dad was so very proud of all of you, his face would light up everytime he would talk about you.Rest in peace Jim, I will never forget you and all the great times we shared.
