Gwendolyn R. Taylor
In Celebration of Gwendolyn Ruth Taylor (August 25, 1927-December 31, 2015)
Beloved Daughter of George and Anita Taylor
In the early morning hours of December 31, 2015 Gwendolyn Ruth Taylor, affectionately known to many as “Grammy”, “Nana”, “Auntie”, or “Sister Gwen” departed this life to join her Heavenly Father.
Gwendolyn migrated from Cuba to Jamaica at the age of six where she spent all of her childhood and adult years surrounded by her five loving brothers and sisters.
While living in Jamaica, she met her beloved Aston at age sixteen and would be blessed with 70 plus years of marriage to her best friend and soulmate. For those who know of their love, they completed each other, Gwen with her fashion sense and her outstanding personality that would always make you laugh. She was the life of every party and Aston, her biggest cheerleader, was the quiet wind beneath her wings. Their love was truly divinely created and they lived it out loud for all to witness and admire. After an amazing life in Jamaica, her Prince Charming would bring her and their two girls to the US where they would build an amazing life together with abundant opportunities for their daughters and grandchildren. We honor this amazing woman and how she chose to treat strangers with kindness, family with a sense of love and security and her children and grandchildren with an unselfish and overflowing sense of joy.
Gwendolyn worked for many years in manufacturing when in Jamaica at J. Wray and Nephew Rum Factory and for the city of Boston in catering at Mattapan Chronic Hospital. Upon her retirement she enjoyed traveling with her family, day trips to the beach, cooking, shopping, Saturday mass with her daughter, and taking care of her dear Papa.
Gwendolyn leaves to mourn: Her daughters: Jennifer and Michelle
Son in law: Ronald McGowan, Grandchildren: Kimberly, Alyssa and Tyler
Sisters: Evelyn (Madge) and Thelma (Peggy)
Nieces and Nephews: Many from around the world, in the United States and Canada, London, Jamaica and Italy, who love and miss her dearly.
Gwendolyn was an amazing woman, who leaves a remarkable legacy and an incredible blessing to everyone’s lives whom she touched throughout the world.
