Golts, Walter

Walter Goltz Of Milton MA and formerly of West Springfield MA ,age 94, passed away quietly at home, in the presence of family on Monday December 7, 2015. The cause of death was melanoma. Fittingly, the day of his death was Pearl Harbor Day. Walter was a proud WWII Veteran who served aboard an aircraft carrier for three years in both the Atlantic and Pacific theaters. This was certainly a defining event in his life and he was always willing to share a story or two about the War. Walter was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (LeBlanc) Goltz. Walter is survived by his four sons and their families; James Goltz & Eliane Herring of Ukiah CA, Gary & Kathy Goltz of Medfield MA, Bob Goltz of Buffalo NY and Tom & Joan Goltz of Milton MA. Walter also leaves 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Walter resided in Milton since 2003 after living in West Springfield for over 50 years. He was a happy summertime resident of the Dunes beach in Weekapaug Rhode Island for most of his postwar life and enjoyed the sand, surf and rejuvenating effects of spending a weekend there with a good book. He was a graduate of Classical High School in Springfield and attended American International College. He spent much of his professional career as a purchasing agent for various companies.

Walter was very proud that he recently participated in the World War II Honor Flight, dedicated to those who served in WWII, Korean and Vietnam conflicts. Recently, Walter flew to Washington DC with his son Tom and enjoyed a grand tour of the Memorials, the city and various tributes set to honor veterans.
