Ernest A. “Ernie” Durant Jr., a retired assistant produce manager for Roche Bros, died at his home in Hyde Park, Sunday December 20, 2015.

Born in Woburn, he was raised in the South End of Boston and attended Brandeis Vocational High School, Boston. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served aboard the USS Hugh Purvis, DD 709, during World War II. Mr. Durant lived in Dorchester prior to moving to Hyde Park.

Beloved husband of the late Helen (Maloney) Durant. Loving father of Michael Durant (BPD) and his wife Annmarie of West Roxbury and Sean Durant (MSP) and his wife DawnMarie of Braintree. Grandfather of Mary, Sarah, Lauren, Shannon, Colleen and Kylie Durant. Brother of Thelma DiCostanzo of Carver and the late Andrew Durant and Lorraine Baum.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Anne’s Church, 79 West Milton Street, Readville, Monday December 28 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Sunday 3-7 PM. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
