Francis R. Coady Jr. 72, of Scituate, MA, passed away peacefully on September 2, 2015 after a courageous battle with cancer. Most recently, he resided at Laurel Ridge, Jamaica Plain. Born November 12, 1942 in Dorchester. Franny grew up in Milton, Cohasset and Scituate. He also resided in Bellingham for many years. Educated at BC High, Arch Bishop Williams, Worcester Academy, Maine Maritime and UMass Boston, where he earned his BA with honors. Truly a Jack of all Trades, Francis worked in the restaurant, funeral, dry cleaning and car hauling industries. Most recently, he was a social worker and a diligent activist for the Democratic Party. Memorable employment for Franny was working for the 1980 and 2002 US Winter Olympic Committees. He and his family attended several events including the “The Miracle on Ice” game. Active in a wide variety of sports, Fran especially loved playing and coaching hockey, football, baseball and softball. Snow skiing, sailing, fishing and water skiing were also favorite pastimes. Watching his siblings, daughters and grandchildren excel in sports made him proud. Francis was an avid New England sports fan and statistician. He loved sharing, educating and arguing about stats! His formidable knowledge of all sports had no bounds! Revered by many, Franny could tell a story like no other. He could entertain and amuse with tales from days gone by. He was a voracious reader and highly informed on current world events. Survived by 7 loving daughters, Peryn Coady of San Diego, CA, Aimee Burke of Mendon, Stacey Coady of Wellesley, Danielle Lambert of Brentwood, NH, Tamsyn Coady of Bellingham, Cyra Coady of Natick and Kristyn Coady of Bellingham; 11 grandchildren, Cameron and Cassandra Thibault, Arielle and Joel Pizarro, Ryan, Rachelle and Hayden Parker, MacKenzie Burke, Kolten and Sheadon Lambert and Vivien Vlah; 1 great granddaughter, Jasea Pizarro; 7 siblings, Lee, Dennis, Cissie, Greg, Lisa, Sean and Judy; 19 nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Francis Sr. and Eunice (Murphy); brothers Peter, Mark and Paul Coady; daughter Marcelle Thibault and grandchildren Kaleigh and Shane Lambert. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, September 12th at 10:00 am in St. Agatha Parish, 432 Adams Street, Milton. A Celebration of Life will follow in the Parish Hall. All are welcome!
