Viola Mae Young

Viola Mae Young was born on September 12, 1960 in Charlestown, West Virginia.  She was the fourth child of Nathaniel and Madeline Young.

Viola moved to Boston at the tender age of four.  She was educated in Boston Public Schools and graduated from South Boston High in 1978.

Before her illness, Viola held many customer service jobs.  She believed in serving people with care and compassion.

On August 11, 2015 Viola was called home to be with the Lord.  She was a sweet, outgoing woman who helped anyone that needed it.  Viola loved cookouts and old school music.  Her favorite color was yellow, and her favorite movie was Saturday Night Fever. Viola’s favorite hobby was shopping.

She leaves many to cherish her memory: Her daughter Quatanna L. Hardy and her husband Khary Hardy, and Quatanna’s father Aaron Beverly; her children  Leon M. Young Jr., Alicia L. Young, Ashley R. Young, Brianna A. Young, Kesean N. Young, and their father, Leon McCoy; her siblings Donald M. and Patricia Robinson, Patricia A. Gibson, Sheila M. Young-Harley and Earl Harley Jr., Margaret A. Young, Lavonia and Corey Nelson, and Nathan D. Young; her grandchildren Armani Smalls, Arianna Hardy, Elijah Smalls, and Mia-Farrell-Young as well as a host of  family and friends. We rejoice that she is now reunited with her late parents Nathaniel and Madeline Young as well as the late  sister Victoria Lynn Robinson, the late brother in law Raymond Gibson, and the late brother Anthony L. Young.  A Funeral Service will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St., LOWER MILLS, Wednesday at 10AM. Visitation 9-10AM, relatives and friends invited.
