Deborah Ann Field

Deborah Ann Field, 69, of Brighton, died peacefully on July 7 surrounded by members of her extended family. Deborah suffered a tragic accident a week prior which left her a quadriplegic. She was the daughter of the late Nancy (Leahy) and John Field. A graduate of Girls Latin School, where she worked on the literary magazine, Deb earned a perfect score in the College Board Entrance Exam. She attended Emmanuel College, was on the staff of the literary magazine, and maintained a close connection with the school, including serving as president of the Alumnae Association. She earned a master’s degree in Celtic studies from the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies at the University of Toronto and taught Celtics topics at Harvard College. She is survived by cousins Joseph, James, Christopher, Kenneth, Paul, Peter and Gerard Leahy. Deb was a long-time employee of Boston University Dept. of Physiology and Bio-Physics and a dedicated fan of the Boston Red Sox but it was her association with Boston Ballet that filled much of her time. She was a volunteer at Boston Ballet Company for more than twenty years serving as past-president and past-treasurer of the Boston Ballet Volunteer Association and as a guide for backstage tours. She was honored as the recipient of the Golden Toe Shoe Award. She was an avid reader and enjoyed almost any type of music, especially Irish, both popular and traditional. She was always upbeat, fun, interested and ready for the next thing.
