William P. Reddington

William P. Reddington, a retired purchasing agent for Boston Edison, died Sunday May 3, 2015.

Born and raised in Milton, Bill was a graduate of Milton High School, Class of 1935. He began working for Boston Edison in 1936. In 1942 he entered military service and was a member of the 4th Infantry Division, 4th Engineers. He was injured by enemy gunfire five days after arriving in Normandy. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal. Mr. Reddington was discharged in 1945 as a Sergeant. Bill returned to Boston Edison and retired from the company in 1984.

Life member of the D.A.V., V.F.W., American Legion Post #114 of Milton and the 4th Division Assn. Retired employee, Boston Edison for over 40 years. Mr. Reddington had been a member of the Council of Aging in Milton.

Beloved husband of the late Mary J. (Murray) Reddington. Loving father of Mary Jean Schonland and her husband Rod of Plymouth, William P. Reddington Jr. of North Wales, PA and Paul R. Reddington and his wife Anna of Manchester, NH. Grandfather of Alexandria, Amanda and William P. Reddington. Brother of the late John, Thomas, Paul, Richard and Margaret Reddington.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Elizabeth Church, Reedsdale Road at Randolph Avenue, Milton, Thursday May 7 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Wednesday 4-7 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
