Frederick W. Hoey, a retired financial advisor for Boston Edison, died at Norwood Hospital Saturday April 4, 2015. He was 80 years old.

Born in Boston, Frederick was raised in Jamaica Plain, Forest Hills and Roslindale. He was a graduate of Roslindale High School. After graduation, he joined the US Navy, serving aboard the submarine USS Halfbeak during the Korean Era. Mr. Hoey graduated from Northeastern University after he was discharged and began a long career with Boston Edison. He retired as a financial advisor after over 35 years with the company.

A longtime resident of Canton, he was an active member of Saint Gerard Majella Church.

Beloved husband of the late Joan M. (Trayers) Hoey. Devoted father of Christine M. DeMatteo and her husband Martin J Jr. of Milton and Erin B. McIntyre and her husband Charles R. of NH. Cherished grandfather of Thomas, Stephen and Michael DeMatteo and Connor and Seamus McIntyre. Loving step-grandfather of Olivia DeMatteo. Brother of the late Francis Hoey, Edward Hoey, James Hoey, John Hoey, Eleanor Sheldon, Maureen Dunn, Roseanne Hoey, Mary Driscoll and Agnes Gallagher. Frederick is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gerard Majella Church, 1860 Washington Street, Canton, Wednesday April 8 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Tuesday 5-8 PM. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston.
