Eliott J. Platt
Eliott James “Sonny” Platt , age 75, died peacefully at home in Brockton, MA on Sunday April 26, 2015. The second child born to Eliott “Busta” Platt, Sr. and Ethel Sowell-Platt on March 2, 1940 in Boston MA, he was adored by his older sister, Joe Anne Platt-Johnson, and his younger brothers, Richard Platt & Robert “Bobby” Platt. The patriarch of the Platt family since his father died, you could find Sonny either taking care of his family, or fixin’ something! Surely born with motor oil running through his veins, Sonny loved anything racecar or mechanic oriented; “Speed” should have been his nickname! Honorably discharged after serving his country in the United States Air Force, Sonny let his passion for mechanics take him from being a jet aircraft mechanic for Eastern Airlines, to professionally racing his Funny Car, fondly named “The American Eagle”, to mastery over any automotive repair. But, nothing was more important to Sonny than family, and he was never far from his children.
His Best Girl, and life partner, Gina Morello is mother to three of his sons. Left to honor Sonny’s memory are his five sons, Eliott James “Chucky” Platt, III, Troy Edward Adam Platt, Anthony “Tee Jay” Platt, Raysean Platt and Lamar Morello (and his fiancé Samantha Sousa); his grandchildren, Troy Edward Adam Platt II, De’Trina Platt, Lakeisha Chapman and her fiancé Kevin Stallings , Rakeem Andre Chapman and his wife Tumelano , Taeya Platt, Mark Coleman, Katelyn Fortes, Felicia Santiago, Raysean “RayJay” Platt, Jr, Zariah Platt, Damari Morello, Gennissey Morello, Mariah Andrade, and 12 great-grandchildren. He will also be dearly missed by his uncles, aunts, cousins and many nephews and nieces. Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Joe Anne, son Troy and his best friend Sam Eisenberg.
A Funeral service will be held at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. Dorchester (Lower Mills) on Tuesday, May 5, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Bourne National Veterans’ Cemetery, Connery Avenue in Bourne, MA. All family and friends are welcome.
