Edward R. King

Edward R. King of Weymouth, formerly of Milton, April 4, died at South Shore Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Boston, Edward was raised in Milton graduating from Milton High School in 1950.   He was active in CYO basketball with St. Agatha’s and St. Mary of the Hills Churches. He was a graduate of Bentley College.

Mr. King worked as an accountant for Boston Insurance Company. He continued his career at The Gillette Company, retiring after a tenure of 23 years.   Not wanting to sit still in retirement Mr. King went to work at the Turnpike Authority.

Ed was a member of the Cunningham and Wessagusset Men’s Bowling Leagues. Along with being an avid Patriots and Celtic Fan, he was a Milton “Hilltopper” and known to many in Milton as “Bruce Bird”.

Ed was the beloved husband of Joan (Gordon) King.  Devoted father of Anne Newman and her husband Peter of Weymouth, Beth Condon and her husband Timothy of Weymouth and Tina King of Weymouth.  Grandfather of Peter, Jared and Rachel Newman & Daniel and Nicholas Condon. Brother of Eileen Leonard and Uncle of Kathleen McLeod both of Quincy.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Agatha’s Church, Milton Friday, April 10, at 10:30 am.  Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thurs. 4 – 8 pm.
