Maryte Krisiukenas

Maryte Krisiukenas of Milton, passed on to her heavenly reward on Feb 13 following a brief illness. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Alfredas Kriskiukenas; devoted mother of Lora I. Knight and her husband, Dr. John Knight of Milton, Renata L. Alonge and her husband Robert of PA and Andrew Krisiukenas of Milton; grandmother of Jonathan Knight and his wife Wendy of Quincy, Bethany Knight of Milton, Alicia Rutkauskas and her husband Steven of Weymouth and Jesse Alonge of Canaan, CT; and great grandmother of Lilly Rutkauskas of Weymouth  Maryte was born in a small village in Lithuania in 1924. When she was a teenager, opposing armies advanced through Lithuania during World War II. Maryte fled with her aunt and cousin through Poland and Germany. Eventually she met her husband at a refugee camp near Frankfurt, Germany and they married three years later. Maryte’s  grandmother  had  given her a pair of gold-rimmed glasses, which they melted down to make their wedding bands. Alfredas began medical school in Germany, but completed it after they emigrated to Boston in the late 1940’s. After a stint in Utah in the U.S. Army, they moved back to the Boston area. They lived in Milton for 49 years. Maryte was a devoted, lifelong member of Glad Tidings Church in Quincy.

Funeral Service at the Crossroads Worship Center, 241 Broad St., Weymouth, Friday, Feb 20 at 11 o’clock. Visiting Hours at the Dolan Funeral Home,  460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON SQUARE, Thursday, 3-7pm. Interment at the Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree . In lieu of flowers, contributions in Maryte’s  memory may be sent either to Crossroads Worship Center or to Glad Tidings Church, 153 Washington St., Quincy, MA 02169.
