Evelyn (Vaughan) Butler of Dorchester, passed away peacefully early Monday morning February 23rd, 2015 surrounded by her loving family in her home at the age of 88.  Born on May 5, 1926 in Dorchester; daughter of the late Maurice and Mary T. (Fitzpatrick) Vaughan, Evelyn was raised in Neponset section of Dorchester and has been a lifelong resident while spending the summers in Humarock for the past 51 years.  Family was the single most important aspect of Evelyn’s Life. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. The grandchildren were her world and she loved being part of their lives and watching them grow. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and making sweaters for all the grandchildren.  Beloved wife of the late (Ret.) Boston Police Detective Edward P. Butler.  Evelyn is survived by her devoted & loving children Edward J. “Buddy” Butler and his wife Patricia of Hingham, Boston Police Officer Michael V. Butler and his wife Joan of Norfolk, Stephen M. Butler and his wife Elizabeth of Dorchester, Jeanne M. Dalton and her husband John of Neponset, and Judith A. “Judy” Butler of Dorchester, her dear sisters Anna M. Kenney of Braintree, her sister & best friend Patricia Caruso and her husband James of Watertown. In addition she is survived by her 16 cherished grandchildren, 3 adoring great grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.  Loving mother of the late Paul F, Butler and Marianne T. Butler, and sister of the late Kathryn Vaughan, Helen M. Fay, John J. Vaughan, Thomas Vaughan, Mary Lyons, Josephine Sullivan and Maurice Vaughan.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester, Friday February 27 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Thursday 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers expressions of sympathy may be made in her memory to EC Week at Camp Fatima, 32 Fatima Road, Gilmanton Iron Works, NH 03837.
