Richard C. Conroy, 73, of Quincy, died peacefully on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at John Scott House after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of almost 50 years to Nancy M. (Chisholm) Conroy of Quincy.

Born in Boston, Richard was the son of the late James and Florence (Murray) Conroy of Jamaica Plain.

Richard was proud to have served in the United States Marine Corp and worked 32 years at Blue Cross Blue Shield where he met his wife Nancy. He also worked at Acura in Walpole.

His happiest times were spent camping at Maple Park and golfing at Little Harbor in Wareham.  He enjoyed afternoons in the “pit” with friends and visiting relatives in Florida.

Richard’s greatest joy was his family.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Richard M. Conroy of Braintree, William C. Conroy and his wife Melissa of Medford, Susan M. Conroy-Kazmouski and her husband Daniel of Quincy and Sean M. Conroy and his wife Shanon of Weymouth; he was devoted “Ba” to his grandchildren, Kaleigh and Sean Conroy of Quincy, Meghan, Caitlin and Matthew Conroy of Medford and Dylan and Kendall Kazmouski of Quincy; his loving brother, James M. Conroy and his wife Kathryn of Wareham; his loving brother-in-law, Robert Chisholm and his wife Doreen of Cape Coral, FL; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Elizabeth “Sistie” Conroy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, 95 Crescent St., West Quincy, Saturday January 24 at 10:00AM.  Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery, Quincy. Visiting Hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON, Friday from 4:00-8:00PM.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard’s name to the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, 101A First Avenue, Waltham, MA 02451.
