Virginia F. “Gini” (Youngclaus) Smith
Smith, Virginia F. (Youngclaus), 73, longtime resident of Cohasset, passed peacefully on November 28, 2014, surrounded by her family.
“Gini”, the beloved and cherished wife of Kent of Cohasset and loving Mother to her family, James of East Bridgewater, Jeanne and Patrick Murray of HI and RI, Lauren and Frank Giglio of Chilmark, MV, Stephen and Meredith Smith of West Hartford, CT, and Carin of Plymouth, loved and adored her grandchildren Benjamin, Cali Grace, Samantha, Emelia and Cayleigh.
Gini was kind, generous and full of love for her family and friends. Born in Dorchester to Marion and Arthur Youngclaus, she was a caring and loving sister to her brother Joseph. She married Kent in 1960 and they raised their family in Cohasset, MA.
A beautiful soul, Gini loved fashion, dancing, music and cooking. After graduating high school, she was an administrator for the Navy and later took time to love and raise her family. Subsequently, she served as an administrator for several security and engineering firms.
Gini loved her show tunes, Neil Diamond, and Anthony Newly. She participated in Hingham’s “Cabaret” for several years.
She loved animals, especially her cherished dogs “Licorice” and “Pebbles”, and gave graciously to the MSPCA. Her compassion and generosity also supported the charities of St. Jude and The Wounded Warrior Fund.
Her support and love will be missed by all.
Special thanks to the Nurses and Staff at MICU South Shore Hospital for the comfort and care provided to Gini.
A Celebration of Life service will be held for Gini on Saturday, December 20, 2014 at 10 a.m., St. Anthony’s Parish, 129 South Main St, Cohasset, MA. Memorial donations may be made to The Wounded Warrior Fund P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675, or to St. Jude Children’s Research, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, donors@stjude.org.
