Ray as a lot of people called him will be sorely missed. He could be a dapper dan at times. He had a pair of brown/white shoes for special occasions that he enjoyed wearing which made him stand out in the crowd. Ray had a good sense of humor and was liked by many people. I met him at the USO buddy club in Boston Common in 1950.I brought him home for a Sunday meal to meet my family. I found him to be an interesting person because of his foreign background. My father took a like to him on account of both being fans of baseball. I still recall when they spent the entire afternoon watching a baseball game. I was schedule to leave on my tour of duty and my family liked him so much he was asked to stay with them and thus he became a member of my family. We both traveled and worked in California but since Ray loved the New England seasons he returned to Boston. Through the years I kept in touch with him. We will miss him. May he rest in peace.
I met Ray when he and my partnerJim Reid moved in my 3 bedroom home in Studio City, CA. It was an ideal combination of friends for we worked at different hours of the day and there were no interference on our daily lives whatsoever. I found Ray to be as easy going man. He taught me to make a delicious cucumber salad as well as other quick to make dishes, due to his knowledge and experience as a waiter at a fancy hotel on the Sunset Strip in Hollywood. His Ukranian background was an asset for him to become likeable. Like my partner Jim Reid I will miss him.
May he rest in peace in the country he loved dearly for which he served honorably in the Army.
My sincere condolences to Ray’s family and to his best friend, Steve Burke.
We should be thankful for having had the pleasure of his company and thankful, too, that he suffers no more.
