Percy G.F. Banks
Percy G.F.Banks, was born on March 18, 1930 to the late Selena Wilson (Banks) and Percy Wilson. The angels ascended in the early morning hours of Friday, June 6, 2014 to take Percy home to glory into God’s Kingdoms of the Lord, to rest, on Friday, June 6, 2014.
He served in the U.S. Navy, being assigned to the USS Providence 1948 until 1951. Percy relocated to Boston, Massachusetts in 1959 and then worked at the Mass. General Hospital until he retired in 1992. Percy was extremely outgoing and well known in the Boston community for his kind and generous spirit.
Percy had many nicknames but one that just stuck out was “Cowboy” because of his love for cowboy hats and was in his glory when some of his children relocated to Texas. Percy was a wonderful pool player well at least so he thought and was very disappointed when Slades was remodeled.
He was a wonderful spouse, father, uncle and friend, who will always be remembered for his consistent pillar of wisdom and strength for all of his children, family members and friends. Those who knew Percy knew he liked to joke in a loving way and would light up a room with his beautiful smile. Percy was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Snow-Banks, granddaughter, Kelly Drayden, sister, Ethel-Jane Barbee, and Brothers, William and George Wilson.
Percy is survived by his loving wife, Vernette Banks, his children, Carlos(Carol) Banks of PA, Pamela Banks of GA, Jamie (Gee) Banks of NC, Timothy Banks, and Patrina (Keith) Banks-Blakemore both of TX, Philip and Tonya Drayden both of PA, Renee Holland, Michelle (Milton) Ward, Pernell (Laine) Banks and Aisha Johnson all of MA, two special sons Wayne Mitchell and Quinton Howard. One sister Rosemond Hughes of TX and a Brother Raymond Wilson of FL. He also leaves his grandchildren Rebekah, Damaine, Taka, Asasii, Ishnii, Kiiya, Azi, Adonysha, Zebulan, Amasa, Masata, Marliquea, Madeline, Jacob, Jacin, Jackson, Madison, Mekenna, Jacob, Jasmine, Breona, Keith Jr, Nasir, Briana, Jahaad, Amaya, Milton, Alicia, Pernell Jr, Maija Tamika, Damone, Kenyon and Philip Jr., great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. He will be sadly missed and always remembered. May he rest in peace knowing how much he was loved. Visiting hours will be held Wednesday in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, from 4-8 P.M.
