Kyle Frederic Dandrow
Kyle Frederic Dandrow, of Marshfield, peacefully passed away on January 18th, 2014 at the age of 28. He was the beloved son of Robert V. and Cathy A. (Canon) Dandrow. He is survived by his parents, his brother Craig T. Dandrow and wife Dara A. Reppucci, his sister Renee M. Dandrow, his grandmothers Mary V. Dandrow and Mary J. Canon, and his trusty toy poodle, Frankenstein. He was the cherished grandson of the late Dr. Robert V. Dandrow and the late Frederic F. Canon. He leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends and colleagues. Kyle was born in Boston at St. Margaret’s Hospital, attended St. Agatha School in Milton, MA, graduated from Boston College High School and Quinnipiac University, and was pursuing his MBA at Suffolk University. Kyle was employed by Brown Brothers Harriman in Boston, MA and was a dedicated teammate of the B.C. High, New Blue, and South Shore Anchors RFC rugby teams. Family and friends meant everything to Kyle and he was an inspiration to everyone he touched. He passionately lived life to the fullest while loving every minute of it. Friends and family are invited to attend visiting hours from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, January 24th, at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 25th, at 9:00 a.m. at St. Agatha Parish, 432 Adams Street, Milton, MA, followed by interment at Two Mile Cemetery in Marshfield, MA. In lieu of flowers, please make an “In Memory of” contribution payable to the “Kyle F. Dandrow ’04 Scholarship at Boston College High School,” 150 Morrissey Boulevard, Boston, MA, 02125.

My dearest Kyle,
I know you would not want me to mourn your death but to celebrate your life. I am trying my best but I miss you so much man. You have changed my life. I am trying to muster the strength to go. I love you so much man and I promise you that I will go on. You are kindest, gentlest nicest and most genuine person I have ever met. The trips we took the celebrations at our houses are memories that I will cherish and hold dear for the rest of my life. You would not me to shed any tears for you but I can find the strength right now. I love you man.
I played rugby with Kyle. I was a freshman when he was a junior. I was new to the team and nervous about interacting with the older, bigger guys. Kyle was the first older guy to shake my hand, offer me a ride to practice and welcome me to the team. I looked at him as a gentle giant, an extremely kind and intelligent gentleman. He was one hell of a rugby player. I’ll always be grateful for how comfortable he made me feel and how he looked out for me on my first day of practice with the team. He will be missed.

It is with heavy heart that I write these words of condolence. Kyle was such an unusual soul…so incredibly kind, thoughtful, interesting, and whenever I spoke with him, he was 100% engaged in the conversation (even though I am sure he had better things to do than to entertain an “old lady” like me!). I remember our talks and interactions with such fondness, and always was thinking to myself during these conversations: “What a great guy! If I had a son, I would want him to be just like Kyle.” And…”Why is he still talking to me? He must be getting so bored!” If he was bored, he never let me know. He was that impressive of an individual, and that warm of an individual. A real Class Act. In addition, hats off to Cathy and Rob, for raising such a fine man, that brought so much happiness to people around him! Although I did not have the honor of spending as much time with him as I would have liked, he was always a true gentleman, who lit the room up with his incredible personality. He is going to be so missed by everyone he touched. I am so sorry for your loss (our loss), and will be praying for him, as well as all of his loved ones near and far.

I knew Kyle through my husband, David (BBH). In the short amount of time that I knew him, I felt like he was a friend I had known for years. As someone wrote, when you talked with Kylle, you had his full attention – he was 100% engaged. Whenever I’d read or see something interesting in the news, I knew Kyle would have an opinion and would look forward to hearing his thoughts. I will miss my conversations with him and our random emails about life. The last few emails with Kyle, he was sharing his 2014 goals and how excited he was to get started. Kyle will always be an inspiration to David and I. He makes us want to be better people, more kind and live life to the fullest. Kyle always signed his emails “making great things happen since 1985”; I know he’s going to help us doing amazing things.

I went to BC High with Kyle. We were in the same homeroom and shared many of the same classes our freshman year. Unfortunately, we lost touch after graduation, but my memory of his sincere kindness and genuine humility remain perfectly intact in my mind. Kyle exemplified the Jesuit ethos “Men For Others,” and he will be remembered as such.

Kyle, you have made so many lives much happier just knowing you. We have been thinking about all the wonderful times we have had together since you were a baby. How about all the places like Lake Winnipesaukee, Cape Cod, Bermuda, St. Thomas and of course St. John sailing on Calypso, flying across the blue waters to Foxy’s, the Soggy Dollar Bar, Norman Island, the snorkeling stops or just sitting having a few beers back at Gallows Point. You could light up a room with your smile. We also know the tough side of you as a rugby player, we enjoyed hearing about your team and how tough they are. We enjoyed seeing your smile when we would call you Mommy’s baby, you would say “I am” and loved every minute of it. This year when we are on Calypso flying across the waters from St John, listening to Kenny Chesney we will know that you are the wind in our sails. You will always be with us. Bon Voyage!!

I truly wish I could use words to describe Kyle, but anybody that knew him would understand it’s an impossible task. He was the definition of a gentleman. The kind of gentleman they don’t often make. He was a handsome, star athlete, family man, business guru. My favorite thing about Kyle was his sense of humor and inclusive way. He always, no matter what found the good in everything. Like so many other people have written, Kyle changed my perspective on life and always rooted me on to do great. Saying I will miss Kyle doesn’t capture the hole that will forever remain in my heart. I recall a conversation I had with him over the summer and afterwards I had remarked to my sister Tricia how impressed I was with what a fine young man Kyle had become. Nearly a week later and nothing about this seems real. Kyle was awesome. I’m trying to think of a more sophisticated word, but honestly, he was awesome.
He was so incredibly full of life–never still, always in motion, smiling, talking, laughing. He gave so much to the people around him and he was a joy. He was just joyful. I can only think that God got a little jealous and wanted him back, but to the whole Dandrow family, I am so sorry for your loss.
Thank you for sharing and raising a wonderful man who showed us how life is really supposed to be lived–even if it’s for a short time.
