I/we are saddened by this news. Jack’s passing is a great loss to our community. Notre Dame Education Center extends its deepest sympathy to the Shaughnessy Family. Jack’s beloved wife Mary was a steadfast and loving presence at NDEC as a former member of the Board of Directors and as an outstanding figure of service and selfless giving. We remember and honor her through our annual Mary Shaughnessy Inspiration Award. Throughout these years, Jack continued the Shaughnessy Family legacy through his faithful support of NDEC’s Mission by assisting us in giving the gift of education to our students. We are forever grateful. We keep the Shaughnessy Family in our thoughts and prayers.

Jack was my mentor for the past 38 years. He was one of the very few people I know that lived his life practicing the preaching of the Catholic Church
Having Jack as a very close friend, was a blessing for he was a quiet philanthropist and a humble humanitarian.
Jack will always remain an inspiration to me.
A forever friend,
Don Rodman

My thoughts and prayers are with the Shaughnessy family during this time. I have many fond memories of the Tremont Street Shaughnessy home during my youth while growing up with Jimmy and the rest of his siblings. Mary and Jack’s guidance will always be remembered.
