Bernice E. (Hobbs) Donovan  of Milton, age 100 years,  died peacefully in her home on Sunday,  June 16, 2013.   Born in Hingham,  on August 28, 1912, the daughter of the late Harry and Nora (Feeley) Hobbs.  Bernice was an ” Ocean Girl” growing up in Nantasket and was secretary to the Town Clerk of  Hull.

A long time Milton resident, Bernice was the wife of the late J. Joseph Donovan.    She excelled as a homemaker, great cook and was an accomplished seamstress.  A person of many interests Bernice  was  a member of the Milton Art Association, Girl Scout leader, taught C.C.D., enjoyed traveling and reading.  A lover of nature, she enjoyed bird watching, gardening and loved her dogs.

Bernice was the loving mother of John J. Donovan, Jr.  of Hanover, NH and Judith A. Donovan McCurdy of Attleboro.  Also survived by 6 grandchildren and 8  great grandchildren.  Sister of the late Harry Hobbs, Charles Hobbs and Walter Hobbs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 22 at 11:00 AM in Saint Elizabeth Church, Reedsdale Rd at Randolph Ave. , Milton.  Relatives and friends invited to attend.  Interment Milton Cemetery.  Visitation Friday 4-8 PM in Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington St. DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Bernice’s name may be made to Milton Cemetery Gift Fund, 211 Centre St. Milton, MA 02186,  Milton Animal League, 181 Governor Stoughton Ln, Milton, MA 02186 or Holy Union Sisters for the Ministry in Haiti/Nutrition Center Program,  PO Box 410, Milton, MA 02186.
