Jill Teresa Cornelius de Clercq van Weel
Jill Teresa Cornelius de Clercq van Weel, 64, of Centerville passed away peacefully at home on May 19th with her family by her side. Born in Englewood, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Frans Ralph and Teresa G. van Weel. Jill grew up in Needham and Duxbury and graduated from Colby Sawyer College. A beloved mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, neighbor and friend, Jill loved to be any place she could appreciate nature. She enjoyed long walks on the beach, bird watching, gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren. Jill will be remembered most for her sparkling blue eyes, her storytelling, the devoted love she had for her family, her European flair in decorating and dress and for always walking on the sunny side of the street. Her spirit will forever shine on those she loved with every song a bird sings and every spring flower’s bloom. Jill is survived by her daughter, Melissa Garrity Sieminski of Duxbury, her grandchildren Caitlin and Teddy and their father Robert Sieminski of Kingston, her brother John van Weel and Susan Jordan of Harwich, her nieces Chrissy Pearson of Dennis, Nicole Merriman of Brewster and Katie Glantz of New York City, her sister-in-law Kathy Hunt of Brewster and her dearest friend Tally Jones of New London, NH and her family. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 28th, 2013 at 1:00 PM at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Barnstable. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, please consider a trust that has been set up to benefit Jill’s cherished grandchildren. Donations may be made to the Jill van Weel and Family Benefit Account in care of Rockland Trust, 1195 Falmouth Road, Centerville MA 02632.

Jill and I met in 2000 when we started our friendship at Shields MRI. It was as if we had known each other for many lifetimes. Jill is my soul sister and I will cherish our friendship for lifetimes to come. She will always be in my heart and my thoughts and everytime I hear a bird sing, I will know she is near. She will be missed beyond words.
Little bird, In the past six months you perched in my heart. You became closer to me than a sister. You trusted me, depended on me, showed me how to enjoy the little things in life. Your smile told me I was doing something right. I was just one of many that took turns caring for you, but you made each of us feel we were special. All our love and gentle nursing couldn’t keep you with us. I will miss you little Jill and never regret anything I passed up in order to spend time with you. Though you were like a little bird in this world, you had more strength and courage than all that knew you. My heart broke when you left us Sunday morning, but I rejoiced that you were free. Fly away little bird, fly away . . .
Remembering beautiful Jill and thinking of family gatherings made more special by her kindness and warmth. She will be greatly missed. Much love to all, Paul and Carol
Jill and I met as pre-teens, and have shared a lifetime of deep and loving friendship. Jill has been cherished by so many, and I know we are all heartbroken that she is gone. I also know we will all be there for Melissa, Caitlin, and Teddy, each as much as he or she can, in the years to come. The love of life, family, and friends which Jill nurtured so beautifully will live on.
We treasure our day in Marshfield last summer with Mrs. Loomis, Tally, Jill and Jeff. Our love to Jill’s family,

The mention of Jill’s name made ‘Tia Py’ smile, she adored Jill. She said that she was such a ‘cozy’ person and that she was sure we would ‘hit it off’ and indeed we did when we first met back in 1985.
We had many happy times together during Jill’s visits to Cannes and London then later, after Tia Py’s death; we re-discovered each other when we visited Cape Cod. I remember arriving at our B & B in Centreville to find that Jill had delivered flowers from her garden – arranged in a jug from a restaurant in ‘Mougins’, South of France – 3 little starfish artistically arranged on the dressing table with a loving welcome note and a bottle of wine – typical of Jill’s generosity and thoughtfulness.
It is hard to believe that she has been taken from us so young but her brave and dignified fight up until the end was something humbling to behold.
I’m sure that all the love and devotion that came her way from dedicated friends and family who helped her through those dark days will have been a comfort to her.
We will miss you Jill – our love always

I had the pleasure of working with Jill during a challenging time of her life. Her strength, kindness and overwhelming sense of positive thoughts defined her as truly unique.
She brought fun, caring and always thinking of others, rather than of herself. I am sorry to learn of her passing. Her spirit will live on.
I love the picture chosen…it defines Jill’s spirit and positive energy.
Til we meet again, dear Jill
We have just read that dearest Jill had passed away! it is with shock and sadness to hear of such a loss. She was a very special lady and we had a great friendship whilst she lived in Marshfield. The memory that is treasured, is of going to the Rhode island Flower show one year and leaving the car in the parking lot and then not remembering where we had left it. Her love of flowers and gardens we shared and spent many happy hours enjoying this together. We send you Melissa and all the family much love and many thoughts, we will always keep Jill in our hearts and memories..
