Barbara (Barrett) DeSutter

Barbara DeSutter (Barrett ), 71, a longtime Milton and Randolph resident, died Sunday evening December 9, 2012, at the family home in Jamaica Plain. Raised in Braintree, she was a daughter of the late Edward and Regina(Gross) Barrett. Barbara attended Braintree High School(’57) where she excelled at basketball earning four Varsity Letters.  She also enjoyed being Captain of the Braintree Drum and Bugle Corps, competing in the Eastern Massachusetts Circuit. After high school, Barbara went to work in New York City where she met and married her beloved Clark. By 1973 they had moved to Milton with their two sons. Active members of St. Agatha’s Church, theyboth taught CCD.  They were a part of a wonderful neighborhood where life long friendships were made.  Sadly she was widowed in 1983 when Clark succumbed to a long fight with cancer. Professionally, Barbara enjoyed a proud career as an Executive Assistant in the financial industry retiring from RBC Wealth Management in 2006. She is survived by her two sons Keith DeSutter and his wife Jennifer (Brown) of Jamaica Plain, Tim DeSutter of Andover; her brothers and sisters Edward Barrett of Texas, Charles Barrett of Maryland, Priscilla (Barrett) Rawson of Texas and Anita (Barrett) Peirce of Milton; and grandchildren, Sarah Hallstrom of Florida and Brittany Hallstrom of Andover, Jake Colbert of Jamaica Plain. Visiting hours from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 13, at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON. A private ceremony will follow at a later time.
