Amelia G. Magee

Amelia G. (McCauley) Magee of Rockland on Dec. 3, died at Life Care of Scituate, she was 82.

She was born in Boston and grew up in Dorchester attending, St. Ambrose School and graduating from Boston Girls High School.  She received here undergraduate and Masters Degree from Boston State College in Education.  She taught in the Boston Public School System and was one of the founders of the french language program for Boston elementary school students.

Amelia received her Masters degree in French from Middlebury College in Vermont and studied at the Sorbonne in Paris.  After attaining her degree, she taught French at Boston State University.  She enrolled at Boston College to obtain her Doctorate in French where upon attending a dance with Harvard students met her future husband.  After her marriage Amelia devoted her attention to her family.  She and her late husband travelled the world.  Amelia was also known for her version of making “Faberge” eggs. 

Amelia was the beloved wife of the late Dewey Magee, devoted mother of Lynn Magee and her husband Christian Johnson of MD, David Magee and his wife Linda of Norwell. Loving grandmother of Alexis Magee, Grace Magee, Jack Magee and Lilah Magee and Caitlin Johnson.  Sister of Rita McCauley of Braintree, Marguerite McCauley of Norwell and Eileen Perrotta of Scituate and  the late Elizabeth, Catherine and John McCauley    Also survived by many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Elizabeth’s Church, Friday Dec. 7, at 10 o’clock.  Visiting Hours, Thursday in the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., EAST MILTON 4 – 8 pm.  Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
