Alexis W. Blood

Alexis Lex W. Blood, 86, of Milton and Falmouth died June 9, comfortably at home surrounded by his loving family. Born in 1926, Lex spent most of his youth in the Savin Hill neighborhood of Dorchester, son of the late Alexis and Richard Blood. A Double Eagle, Lex graduated from both Boston College High School, class of 44 and Boston College class of 52. Prior to attending college, Lex enrolled at Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy, where he served his country during WWII by circumnavigating the globe delivering fuel to aircraft carriers. Lex also served in the Army during the Occupation of Japan. As an alumnus of Boston College, Lex played an important role in fund raising for the college and was recognized for his hard work with many awards. He was an avid BC hockey and football fan. Lex was employed for over 30 years by the New England Telephone Company. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, as well as his trusty companion, his Irish setter, Murphy. Lex is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Ann (Love), his three sons, Richard Blood and his wife, Christine, of Mendham, NJ, Joseph Blood of Falmouth, MA, and James Blood and his wife, Susan, of Ellington, CT; his three daughters, Carol Walker and her husband, Dr. John Walker, of Bolton, CT, Mary Jean Yencho of Glastonbury, CT, and Patricia Blood and her husband, Michael Cochrane, of Plymouth, MA, and seven grandchildren, Kelsey and Andrew Blood, Brian, Michelle and Matthew Walker, Jennifer Yencho, and Ryan Blood. He is also survived by his sister, Mary and her husband Paul Phelan Sr. of Falmouth, MA and Naples, FL, along with many nieces and nephews. Lex was predeceased by his brother, Richard and sister, Louise Keohan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on June 14 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agathas Church 432 Adams Street, Milton. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation at Dolan Funeral Service, 460 Granite Avenue, Milton on Wednesday, June 13, from 4 | 8 p.m.. Interment Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Lex can be made to the VNA of Cape Cod.
