John P. Hannigan, Sr.
John P. Hannigan, Sr., passed away peacefully at his daughter’s home in Braintree, Thursday March 1, 2012, one week prior to his 83rd birthday, surrounded by his loving family.Mr. Hannigan is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Lillian (Joyce) Hannigan. Loving father of Kathleen Hannigan of Braintree, John Hannigan, Jr. and his wife Bernadette of Marshfield and William Hannigan of Milton. Brother of Francis E. Hannigan of Dorchester, Ann Sheehan of Milton, Katherine McSharry of NJ and Sr. Anne Michael, SND of Dedham. Grandfather of Olivia, Audrey & Cole. Also survived by Kim Hannigan of S. Easton and many nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Milton, John was a US Army Veteran and served in World War II and the Korean War. After two honorable discharges John worked as a Plumber for Local Union 12 in many buildings around Boston as well as a major job in Liberia. John spent his latter years enjoying his time in sunny Florida with the love of his life, Lil at their home in Naples.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visting hours Tuesday, 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Ave., MILTON. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Agatha Church, Milton, Wednesday March 7 at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at Milton Cemetery. Donations in John’s memory may be made to Shriner’s Hospital for Children or American Diabetes Association.
