Sr. Marion Morrissey, mfic, a member of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception of Newton, formerly of Dorchester, died on Sunday, December 4, 2011 at St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham. Daughter of the late Marion (Leary) Morrissey and William T. Morrissey, former Commissioner of the Metropolitan District Commission and for whom Morrissey Boulevard in Dorchester was named. Sister of the late William T. Morrissey. Sister Marion is survived by her nieces Deborah Katsiroubas and her husband Nicholas of South Natick and Jayne Gansler and her husband Stephen of Medfield and her nephew William T. Morrissey and his wife Rosemary of Bourne. Also survived by her grandnieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Mount Alvernia Convent Chapel, 790 Centre St. Newton, MA 02458 on Wednesday, December 7 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at the chapel on Tuesday 4-7:30 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Retirement Fund of the Missionary Franciscan Sisters at the address listed above would be appreciated. DEAR MARION AND I WERE THE BEST OF FRIENDS AT NOTRE DAME AND OF COURSE, OUR PATHS WENT IN DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS WHEN SHE LEFT NDA AND WENT TO MT. ALVERNIA. HOWEVER OUR TIME AS FRIENDS ARE MOMENTS IN MY LIFE THAT ARE DEEP IN MY MEMORY. HER DAD TOOK ME TO PLACES I WOULD NEVER HAD KNOWN. WE SPENT NEW YEARS IN N.Y. CITY, WE HAD DINNER EVERY SUNDAY AT HUGO KIMBALLS. THEIR BEAUTIFUL HOME IN COHASSET WAS ALWAYWS OPEN TO MARION AND HER RAGTAG FRIENDS. MY MEMPORIES WITH MARION WERE THE HAPPIEST DAYS OF MY YOUNG LIFE. MR. MORRISSEY, WHO DIED TOO YOUNG, PUT UP WITH US, AND I THINK ENJOYED US. MARION WAS A CLOSE FRIEND FOR A SHORT TIME IN MY LIFE BUT SHE WAS ALWAYS IN MY HEART. GOD REST HER , A DEAR FRIEND AND VERY SPECIAL PERSON.
