Annie Mae(Whitley) McGee, of South Boston, died at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Monday September 5, 2011. She was 85 years old. Born and raised in Chinquapin, North Carolina, she has lived in Boston for many years. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Wednesday September 14 from 3-5 PM. Funeral service and interment in Batts Cemetery, Chinquapin, North Carolina will be Saturday September 17.

I hope the Whitley-McGee family will find comfort in the love and memories that they shared with her. Mommy, a name I’ve always known to call her, had a huge heart. I remember her gentleness and kindness when I was a teenager. She always welcomed me into her home and many others as well. Although I haven’t seen much of Mommy these past years, I’m glad I got to hug her and talk to her at Gwen’s house last year. What I remember is a feisty but caring, shy but forthright, and pleasant woman. I know your soul is soaring in the heavens Mommy. We Love You!
I offer my sympathy to Vera and the McGee family as they morn the loss of their beloved mom (grandmom). Keep her in your heart that is where all the good memories are stored. Always remember the good times and know that she is now with her heavenly father in a new home. May god’s peace be with you all.
