Bruce Brian Barnett

Bruce Brian Barnett, a retired teacher and longtime Dorchester resident, died at Carney Hospital, Dorchester, Friday October 15, 2010. He was 62 years old.

Born in Boston, he was a graduate of the Boston Public Schools and Boston State Teacher College. Mr. Barnett was a social studies teacher for over thirty years. He recently retired from the Roderick Elementary School, Wrentham.

Bruce was an avid history buff. He built dioramas of World War II and participated in Civil War re-enactments. In this capacity, he served as an extra in the movie Glory.

Beloved son of the late Earl and Dorothy (Sullivan) Barnett. Loving brother of Noralie C. Barnett of Dorchester, Dorothy M. Keller and her husband Michael of Brighton and the late Lisa Barnett and her partner Melissa Scott of Portsmouth, NH. Uncle of Eric B. Keller and Thomas F. Keller, both of Brighton. Bruce is survived by his beloved airedale terrier Hamish.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Dorchester, Wednesday October 20 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Tuesday 4-8 PM. Interment Cedar Grove Cemetery.
