Geraldine A. “Gerry” (Cochran) Maher

of Quincy, formerly of Milton and Dorchester, a homemaker, died at Milton Hospital, April 7, 2010.

Born in Boston, Gerry was raised in Dorchester. She graduated from Saint Gregory High School, Emmanuel College and the Pierce Secretarial School of Boston. She was a voracious reader, enjoyed golf and was a sports enthusiast. Gerry and her husband lived in Quincy from 1948-1959, then moved to Milton in 1959 and remained there for 37 years. They returned to Quincy in 1996.

She was the first Registrar for the former Newton College of the Sacred Heart, a Social Worker for the City of Quincy for many years and was affiliated with CVS Pharmacy at the Milton Marketplace as a Sales Associate for twelve years, retiring in 2002.

Wife of Francis “Frank” Maher for 59 years, she is survived by two sons, Garrett and his wife Patricia of Weymouth, Keith and his wife Lydia of Quincy and a daughter Annemarie Schmidt and her husband Ian of Holliston. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary’s Church, 95 Crescent Street, West Quincy, Thursday April 15 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, MILTON, Wednesday 4-7 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.
